Most private flyers avoid Hartsfield, and most of the time we agree — PDK or Falcon Field are faster. But when you are connecting off an international arrival, staying at an airport hotel, or meeting colleagues who flew in commercially, departing private from ATL's general-aviation side beats a 40-minute drive north. We do it regularly.

The field has the longest runways in the state and a dedicated private-terminal ramp separate from the airlines. You drive to the private terminal, park, and walk to the airplane; there is no security line and no gate. Best for: International connections, airport-district meetings, groups arriving on airlines from several cities and continuing together.
